Once you've decided to honor a special mom-to-be, set the tone for that upcoming baby shower---and show off your creativity---by making your own invitations. And although you can easily create perfectly nice invitations on the computer, these invitations are much more special because you will have hand-created each one of them. You don't need any special artistic talent because these are super easy to make and can be customized using any colors you choose.
Cut card stock so that it is slightly less wide and twice as long as your envelopes. For example, if your envelopes are 5 inches by 7 inches, cut a piece of card stock 4 ½ inches by 13 ½ inches.
Cut a piece of lightweight paper to the same size and glue it to what will be the inside of the card. Let dry thoroughly.
Fold the card in half with the lightweight paper on the inside. The card should now fit inside the envelope. Open the card and trim the top and bottom of the front of the card with the scalloped scissors so that the decorative paper is peeking out.
Cut a rattle shape out of the silver card stock.
Glue the rhinestones or sequins onto the top of the rattle.
Tie a ribbon bow around the handle of the rattle.
Glue the rattle onto the front of the invitation using a glue gun.
Tips:
Use the invitation as a preview of the color scheme for the baby shower. Also, check with your local post office for particularly appropriate stamps that might be in stock, such as hearts or teddy bears.
• Check with your post office before you create a uniquely sized card to make sure that it will be accepted by the post office---or if it will require extra postage.
